The Wonderful World of Cindy Rambling About Working Online and Stuff

by Cindy Bear on September 12, 2009

How’s that for a title? That’s what happens when I don’t really have a title and just sort of make something up as I type. Scary, huh.

I thought I would do what I always do, talk to myself (and answer myself) but take it one step further and (gasp!) share with my adoring fans what I am doing kind of as I am doing it. Why? I don’t know but it seemed like a fun thing to do, so here I am.

So, a few days ago I bought this wonderful new toy (I love new toys) called DL Guard. The main thing it does is to protect downloads (imagine that, with a name like DL Guard). Anyway, it takes a wee bit of tweaking and stuff for each file I want to list on it for sale and then uploading the PDF to the system. It’s really cool. Once I get each file uploaded and on DL Guard, it’s just one sweet automated process when someone buys a report, an ebook, or PLR content from me. There are some other nifty perks too. I can set how many times the buyer can download and how long they have to download, so that cuts down on worrying about someone buying my product and then sending the download link to ten thousand friends.

And tonight I am (finally) moving eight files from E-Junkie.com, who I was using to host the files and take payments. It’s a slow process only because I have to pretty much redo every file and add the new payment method. But once it’s done, it’s all automated. That frees me up from having to find the file and email it to the buyer. I can spend my work time working and creating new products to sell instead of having to take time out to find a file. Yay!

In the next few days, I will be getting some more lovely new toys to play with. The first is a wonderful plugin of sorts that works with Photoshop. I am getting into the Graphic Design business. Funky, huh? Yeah, I thought so too. Who knew? I know I didn’t! So this new toy has all the bells and whistles to do some really spectacular work. It works with Photoshop CS2, CS3, and CS4. After I get the new plugin toy, I will be getting the all new sweet as it sounds Photoshop CS4 (I have CS2 but I’m moving on up, to the top…).

Once I have those two items, I will be getting a program for video making and editing. A few weeks ago, a friend who has an internet marketing blog was mentioning how she got this new program to do her videos, making them extremely high definition. She just wanted it for the HD effect and the ability to do presentation type videos. I didn’t think much about it, since I’m not one for being in front of the camera except for family and friends. Well, as fate would have it, off the wall a couple of nights ago we decided to check this program out, weeks after having heard about it. They have a trial version, so we both downloaded it. I played with it for a few minutes and discovered it has a video editing feature where I could add not only photos and edit them, but also import audio. To say this is cool would be putting it mildly.

The fun part of getting these new toys is that none of this stuff is cheap. It’s going to cost me a wing dinger. But it’s an investment into our future. Plus my income has majorly increased after about three months of barely making it.

One amazing thing about all of this is that if someone had told me six months ago that I would be doing any of this as part of my work at home thing, I would have laughed at them. I had no idea whatsoever how to go about doing video making and video editing. I had virtually no idea how to do anything that resembled graphic designing other than basic blah banners. It’s totally amazing how, when one door closes, God will always open another. And the awesome thing here is that He didn’t just open one door, He opened a lot of them!
